Cons
Managers are super strict, fake, and super corporate (by the book). If you don't meet unrealistic expectations while being intentionally short staffed during busy periods, management will hate your guts. Well performing employees will not be recognized for their efforts, while other employees who butter up management will be given the most hours and promotions. Poor performing coworkers will never be fired unless they choose to leave, meaning everyone else working at the store will have to do the work for them. You are expected to stay more than 30 minutes after your closing shift is scheduled to end due to coworkers not pulling their weight or the store being short staffed, and will get scolded by management next morning meeting while doing nothing to help. Management never updates employees who are not scheduled in the morning about changes to store policies, leading to many moments where you make mistakes unknowingly and get chewed out for it without telling you what you did wrong. Many employees only get 1 four hour shift a week, sometimes no shifts for multiple weeks. You are not allowed to find cover/swap shifts unless you have a "valid reason" determined by management. Very toxic, fake, and corporate. If you are not management's favourite, your efforts will not be recognized and will be constantly be scolded for the mistakes of other coworkers. The people who are favoured by management get the most hours and are groomed to be promoted to assistant managers, despite being unfit for leadership roles. Oftentimes, your coworkers don't do their jobs, leaving everyone else at the store having to do more work. Very high turnover with most quitting the first week/month.
