Pros

I have nothing positive to say

Cons

I found out this week from a current member of one of the emea recruitment teams that the emea recruitment team has hired a recruiter and they secretly went to agency to hire for the role, and didnt post it externally under hubspots name. They started hiring for this position around june/july even though they told the people who were let go earlier in the year that they would wait at least 6 months... they DID NOT wait 6 months. This recruiter has already started with hubspot. This is DISHONEST. The person who still works for one of the emea recruitment teams also told me that they were told that the business are not open to considering people who were let go earlier in the year. PARDON ME? leadership made the mistake of overhiring in 2022, they then let go of multiple members of the recruitment team across emea and globally earlier this year who were performing well in there jobs, and now these people are being penalised because of leaderships mistakes? Regardless of if you took voluntary redundancy or if you were involuntary let go, regardless of what area of recruitment you recruited for within EMEA (marketing/engineering/sales ect - whatever), all recruiters who were let go earlier this year should have been given the opportunity to interview for this role. We should have been able to apply and interview. I dont care if its a 1 month contract or if its a permament role and I dont care if its associate level or senior level, we should all be given the opportunity. I am so horrified by hubspots actions and can now honestly say Im embarrassed of what hubspot has become and Im no longer proud to say I worked there. Disgusting. Its no wonder a lot of people who still work there are secretly unhappy.

Hi, thanks for sharing-obviously this is something that Becky (our VP of Talent) and I take seriously-she's taking the lead on the follow up here with our team. With regard to folks impacted by the layoff, it is not true that they are not allowed to reapply to HubSpot. However, you are correct that we are not mandating they be interviewed or get special treatment in the interview process--we have to ensure we have the right skills and team for the future, so it's imperative people are treated fairly and thoughtfully, but we won't be requiring that they be interviewed. Again, following up individually on some of your other concerns, but hope this helps clarify on that particular point. -Katie

Pros

The teams you work with are phenomenal. The knowledge combination between an internal customer facing teams, engineering product development teams, and Sales are unmatched.

Cons

Excessive use of PIPs to oust employees after multiple high revenue launches, with no explanation, actual documentation, or factual data. Reviews have been adjusted to allow for terminations post pre-approved leaves. Salaries are a joke. You are always in a cover yourself mode 24/7. Management reviews are consistently a 2 or 3 out of 5 no matter what. If a team decides you aren’t in the group, management will put you on a “unofficial” PIP without telling you, in order to surprise you at a later date. Even if they are unfounded. Beware of possibility of negative backlash post launches. They will feel the need to assign blame ( such as for timelines or issues related to bugs). Regardless of performance or level of involvement. This is an enormous company with many large paths for career advancement. But micro management is rampant, leaving little room for doing the daily expectations of your actual role. This degrades your opportunities for career advancement.
