Pros

Good on the CV Generally knowledgable staff in offices Reasonable Training Programme Generous lunch allowance

Cons

Long hours - often due to being on more than one job at a time, which leads to a lack of focus on every job Politics - it's all down to appearances, rather than actual work performed Lack of intuitive technology - although improving, it is still faulty Top management don't seem to have a clue (One Firm Event, constant changes to policies) Stress related to work - due to long hours, lack of support from supervisors (who are also overworked) Lack of departmental resources - leading to long hours at work and constant juggling of jobs Salary structure comparable to industry, but nothing special - market rate and no higher Benefits not great - can actually gain better discounts by going to places and asking for discounts Performance review system very poor and not understandable

Pros

It might sound cliche but the Pro for me is the people that I work with. I'm lucky enough to be staffed in a team with great leadership. Managers are actually willing to coach junior members and be a real mentor. I very much appreciate their efforts.

Cons

Long hours and office politics. This is pretty basic and obvious for any public accounting firms. Every time a quarter end, year end, or a special filing is going out, you can expect 10-14 hour days. It might be fine in your early career but it gets really tiring after a few years.
