Pros

- The office is very nice, great view of the harbour and many good food spots around - There are some people that I really vibed with and could chat/hangout and have hangout outside of work. Not just to meet up for coffee in a professional settings but as genuine friends (only like 2-3 people maybe) - Good diversity, meet people of all ages, genders, ethnicity etc - Free food when you work after a certain hour/time - You get paid always on time - If you work for a long time (in terms of years) at the company, you do get good opportunities to go elsewhere. - they pay for your CA, but so do many accounting firms, but yes you do get to save some money I suppose

Cons

- Pay is poop, seriously if you want to get paid go to a bank. You can work in commercial banking/business banking/anything and get paid a higher grad salary AND work 40 hour work weeks. I do not want to work till 11pm from 9am and get paid 63,000 AUD as a first-year grad. Banks you get paid at least 70k+, Macquarie pays you 80-85k. Other Big 4 Banks pay more too. AVOID BIG 4 ACCOUNTING UNLESS YOU HAVE NO BETTER CHOICE. - Hours are long. 9am to 11pm on some days, at least you get free food at night. - You seriously do not get paid until you make associate director or higher, before that the hourly is quite subpar. You work for 7-8 years to get paid around 120k, and each week you are working 60-70 hours. Work in commercial banking start at 80k work 40 hour work weeks. Work in investment banking you get paid 200k+ and work 80 hours. This is at a graduate level. Don't work in audit. - HR/Management is so poop, and they don't give a poop about you too. I sent a message to HR and she ignores it for a whole week, reads my message, then doesn't reply LOL. - Very team dependant, having worked on different engagements. I've had teams that are honestly amazing and you feel like a human and part of something bigger. And teams (I experienced 2) where you are treated like a dog. Really depends on your senior manager.

Pros

It might sound cliche but the Pro for me is the people that I work with. I'm lucky enough to be staffed in a team with great leadership. Managers are actually willing to coach junior members and be a real mentor. I very much appreciate their efforts.

Cons

Long hours and office politics. This is pretty basic and obvious for any public accounting firms. Every time a quarter end, year end, or a special filing is going out, you can expect 10-14 hour days. It might be fine in your early career but it gets really tiring after a few years.
