Pros

Challenging projects when there is work Stunning offices D&I focus

Cons

Pay from Grad to Associate Director level not competitive. Business not landing new clients or jobs means no promotions and miniscule pay increases. Last year decision was made to pull bonuses for anyone who got an "effective performance" rating which seemed really unfair because they brought a lot of ratings down for high performers so they didn't have to pay a bonus! Internal politics in some pockets means sweet talkers have accelerated progression in the firm, who you know can get you in (I had a director who openly told us how they got their daughter an interview and role in the service line she wanted) and toxic behaviour gets ignored or pushed under the rug.

Pros

It might sound cliche but the Pro for me is the people that I work with. I'm lucky enough to be staffed in a team with great leadership. Managers are actually willing to coach junior members and be a real mentor. I very much appreciate their efforts.

Cons

Long hours and office politics. This is pretty basic and obvious for any public accounting firms. Every time a quarter end, year end, or a special filing is going out, you can expect 10-14 hour days. It might be fine in your early career but it gets really tiring after a few years.
