Pros

-Discount they have a lot of promotions and coupons going out during the holidays and they allow for their employees to take part in them which allows for a 45% off discount. Also works on cosmetics/perfume there is a certain time period which it is allowed its not allowed year round. -Very independent work and relaxing as long as you can keep up with your normal tasks no one will bother you.

Cons

-HR is not your friend here just like in most companies. I was hired to be a perfume saleswoman and to work on commission. After I received my first pay check I realized my commission was not on there when asked about they informed me that "they never said that" when I showed them the paper I left with after my interview offering me the job, stating that I would receive commission signed by all parties they had the nerve to basically say I forged. I never got the commission and also now out the great Holiday job for when school is out. -When management is around they belittle and talk down towards the stuff that they are suppose to be managing. Half the time they don't even know what is going on in their own departments they sit in their offices all day. If there is a problem you have to call the Macy's Help Hotline and then get put on hold!

Pros

you get ok pto even as a part timer, not physically demanding, good A/C and heating depending on the weather.

Cons

very low pay compared to other businesses, you only get a 40 cent raise every year. same playlist consisting of 15 songs on repeat and it drives you crazy as time goes on. very inconsistent hours they rarely give morning shifts, you only get the more undesirable shifts like closing which ends at 9:30pm. the sales goals will be exceeded and they hours will still be cut especially around the holiday season. numerous amounts of time where i am left alone at the register on a busy day with no backup and still expected to clean fitting rooms and recover the floor with no help. overall no room for growth, started when i was 18 and am now 20 and have not even been considered or offered a higher position, 2 tiny raises is all i got. i overall feel like my position is bottom of the barrel compared to asset protection, jewelry department, and fragrance sales because they get paid better and make commission while doing less easier work. would not recommend and if you do end up working at a Macys use the experience you have and never stop applying to jobs because there really is no growth here.
