      Pros

      I've been given a ton of responsibility and completed a lot of different projects in my time here. It's been fantastic. The culture is great as well, people really own things here and nobody pushes mistakes or crappy work off to others.

      Cons

      The pace can be really fast, and sometimes it can feel hard to keep up. Other times it just feels like I can't give a certain project all my attention and so it doesn't turn out as well I would have liked.

      Pros

      Remote first culture. If you want freedom of location and a company to truly mean and support it - this is the place.

      Cons

      Constant change. Nothing to hold on to in this role, compensation, KPI's, tools all change every quarter.

      Pros

      Legacy Shopify ICs and lower-level managers are excellent and generally quite nice (company's Canadian after all) Caliber of engineering talent is generally high Dev-friendly stack (Ruby/Rails) Bleeding-edge AI adoption with unlimited token budget

      Cons

      Recently brought over a CTO from Microsoft: he brought with him a lot of not-at-all-nice people who are highly political, frequently rude/condescending to legacy Shopifolk, and make consistently bad/dev-hostile technical decisions Bleeding-edge AI adoption is being used to justify unreasonably increased expectations
