Pros

My fellow coworkers and manager were great.

Cons

After a year and a half of service to this company with nothing but positive reviews given to me, I was fired without warning, day of, in the middle of the work week. I was given a three minute meeting with a faceless HR representative I’ve never met with little explanation behind the decision other than cost cutting measures. My manager was not even notified that I was being let go. Do NOT work for this company. They act like they are an industry leader in employee satisfaction but they will dump you the second you are not raking in record profits for them. Upper management is full of cutthroat scumbags that only view you as a digit in the system and only care about profit margins. On top of all of this, I later found out my wage when hired was significantly less than those around me with the same level of education and qualifications. This is a shady untrustworthy company and I would not recommend it to anybody.

Pros

Hybrid Work and access to useful engineering tools

Cons

Projects are inconsistent in organization and structure (some good some bad). High (and strict) utilization requirements of >93% for entry level and mid level engineers results in overtime with overlapping work loads to avoid any downtime between projects. No development or mentorship strategy around work assignments, the main goal is to keep utilization up. Stantec has been very focused on cutting costs by offshoring, limiting conference attendance, reducing volunteer hours, no tuition reimbursement, multiple layers of approvals to attend in-office CPR training, etc. Very corporate environment and top heavy management with over 240+ “Vice Presidents” currently at the company. Difficult to get raises/promotions besides annual raise. Typical raise is ~3-5% with a good review depending on where your current salary is in relation to the pay range for your career level.
