Pros
Starbucks is still a good company to work for; I was there for 7 years. In that time, I easily made several moves to several locations across the country, and never met any resistance for it. The pay was decent, the benefits were phenomenal, and the training was some of the best I've ever seen.
Cons
Since pay at Starbucks is determined by area, different areas make different amounts. This isn't always a bad thing, but the work load does not reflect your pay. If you work in a store in the Boston area, for example, you could work one of the many $35-$40k a week stores, which will see you running around all day performing customer triage to the best of your abilities, and see a certain pay for it. At other stores, in the same area, you could see substantially less customer flow, and still get the same pay. On its own, this isn't too bad, but it's a little disappointing to know that all that extra work isn't worth something.
