Micro Management and lack of benefits and appreciation - Business Process Lead Tata Consultancy Services Employee Review

Pros

If you get good project, you can stay as much as possible

Cons

Apart from basic insurance coverage, there are very few employee benefits. There are no regular team lunches, outings, or initiatives focused on employee engagement and well-being. The work environment is highly micromanaged, with employees being closely monitored and expected to consistently deliver under significant pressure. Team members are often required to put in extra effort and take on additional responsibilities to meet project demands. Unfortunately, during appraisal discussions, the focus tends to be on mistakes and areas of improvement rather than recognizing the hard work, dedication, and contributions made throughout the year. Greater appreciation for employee efforts and a more balanced performance evaluation process would help improve morale and motivation.

Pros

Large client base. Talented people, have "cracked the code" on offshoring development and support.

Cons

For anyone used to working in US-based firms, the culture and politics will be difficult to understand and navigate. Internal policies and systems focus on the offshore delivery center model. Roles in the US do not fit into that mold, and obtaining approvals for simple expenses can require weeks and insanely high approval chains given the size of TCS. I needed approval from a global division head (a CEO direct-report) just to pay for a short training course. Missions of different departments are not clearly defined, so overlap and conflict are common.
