Pros

1. TCS is a good company having safe jobs. 2. If you get selected in proper TCS then go for it.

Cons

Got selected in TCS through BPS(aka CMCOE). Initially thought all the policies are same throughout the tcs but here comes the trap. You get hired through BPS and your policies are different(as per BPO policies) as compared to IT employees. There are many differences but let me put top ones that matter the most 1. In IT after 4 years of exp you are at Higher grade than that of 8 years of exp in BPS. 2. Due to these grades you are not eligible for any of the onsite opportunities. 3. Promotion cycle is too long. Eg. I am at BPO3(C1 grade) level and it will take 5 years for me to go BPO4(C2 grade). In IT, it is 1 year. 4. Basic salary is absolutely minimum(>9000) irrespective of your package. 5. Limited clients or accounts associated with BPS. You are not allowed to apply beyond those.

Pros

Large client base. Talented people, have "cracked the code" on offshoring development and support.

Cons

For anyone used to working in US-based firms, the culture and politics will be difficult to understand and navigate. Internal policies and systems focus on the offshore delivery center model. Roles in the US do not fit into that mold, and obtaining approvals for simple expenses can require weeks and insanely high approval chains given the size of TCS. I needed approval from a global division head (a CEO direct-report) just to pay for a short training course. Missions of different departments are not clearly defined, so overlap and conflict are common.
