Pros

You get the legendary & respected Tata Name Salary

Cons

The company is headed by a bunch of retired defence officers who still feel that they are in defence & treat you like their orderlies. Sycophancy is the only way to sustain here. If you are good at at it then you are comfortable. No technical competence of the management. Want to get in everything they see but dont have the expertise. NO RESPECT FOR AN EMPLOYEE You have to report for outstation movements even on holidays. They want to turn it in a pseudo army Since the defence officers don't know anything, you will do everything for them, they will replace your name from the solution & present it as their own work. You never get credit for the good job done You come sharp at 930 hours but never leave before 8 in evening. Plus tell you when to leave. No-one takes responsibility of a job. Ultimately every good thing is done by them & every bad thing by you. & those who wish to do businesses with them

Pros

Large client base. Talented people, have "cracked the code" on offshoring development and support.

Cons

For anyone used to working in US-based firms, the culture and politics will be difficult to understand and navigate. Internal policies and systems focus on the offshore delivery center model. Roles in the US do not fit into that mold, and obtaining approvals for simple expenses can require weeks and insanely high approval chains given the size of TCS. I needed approval from a global division head (a CEO direct-report) just to pay for a short training course. Missions of different departments are not clearly defined, so overlap and conflict are common.
