TCS is more like a school than consulting company - System Engineer Tata Consultancy Services Employee Review

Pros

You get chance to work with experienced and supportive team. They value work life balance and always want you to grow. In case you are on bench then you get opportunity to select project based on your interest.

Cons

Less salary, WFO mandatory. If you are not visiting office then your salary gets impacted. Formal clothing is mandatory. You cannot wear casual (expect Friday) in TCS. Recently TCS migrated to Google Workspace, and this migration is not helping at all. Because not all the employees got migrated to Google Workspace, most of them are still using Microsoft products. In my case, I don't have access to teams, so I'm not able to connect with TCS HR or any other ex colleagues. Because they are still using MS teams and not using Google Chat. All the corporate sessions are being scheduled on MS teams, so what's the point of migrating to Google Workspace. And if you want access to MS products then you need to raise request only if your project management ready to give you access to MS products. ITS PATHETIC.

Pros

Large client base. Talented people, have "cracked the code" on offshoring development and support.

Cons

For anyone used to working in US-based firms, the culture and politics will be difficult to understand and navigate. Internal policies and systems focus on the offshore delivery center model. Roles in the US do not fit into that mold, and obtaining approvals for simple expenses can require weeks and insanely high approval chains given the size of TCS. I needed approval from a global division head (a CEO direct-report) just to pay for a short training course. Missions of different departments are not clearly defined, so overlap and conflict are common.
