Pros

They do have an excellent benefits package. They pay 100% tuition assistance including books, they have programs you can use on site to learn programs like excel etc, and the insurance is major medical, is FREE and pays 80%!

Cons

Really the only goodsides are the benefits. I worked there over 4 years and was never able to work my way to any other dept or up within my own dept. No one was. They made many promises when we started and none of them were kept. For example, transferring to another dept. (all other depts made more per hour) We had to wait 18 mo to transfer anyway and then when it was time suddenly they found out that our union contract was different from theirs and we couldnt transfer at all. You have to stay under a 2% attendance policy or be fired. Some people (myself included) received preferential treatment to this and others were fired on the spot. They wont tell the employees anything that is going on. We were given balloons when we did a good job. (we were 411 operators) and I have never felt so degraded in my life as when I worked there. The pay starts (in Idaho) at 7.31 an hour. All other call centers in the area make at least 10. They pull you in with promises and then dont follow through. I finally quit after my coach and another supervisor from out of town Id never met degraded me to the point I was crying. I will never go back. Although other departments of Verizon, Ive heard, are not as bad.

Pros

Compensation is competitive but you will work very hard for it. Culture is excellent and exhibited and practiced from the top down. Benefits are excellent and cost reasonable. 401k match and profit sharing. Lots of training and professional development opportunities. Can advance if you're willing to relocate.

Cons

Company is trying to transform into what it wants to be beyond a wireless carrier (cloud?, security?, telematics?, wholesaler?, etc) and is struggling with a vision, resources, and org structure to make it a reality. Several re-organizations over last few years so job security has frequently been a question. Often delayed response to competitors caused by management's concern that acting would result in not meeting Wall Street expectations. Not the "happiest" place to work because no result is ever good enough and successes aren't celebrated because the focus is always on the next weekly/monthly/quarterly goal.
