Pros

On the surface, it seems like a fun, creative place to work.

Cons

It is not. This is an UNSAFE ENVIRONMENT for JUNIORS AND GRADUATES from all aspects of the VFX or Games industries. DO NOT WORK HERE IF YOU VALUE YOUR PSYCHOLOGICAL HEALTH. The pitiful pay, no overtime pay, verbal abuse, psychological manipulation, emotional abuse, gaslighting and lies all add up. As a junior or graduate, you don't really have any idea how to stand up for yourself. The CEO is a very, very manipulative human, and will never lose an argument. You will leave your meetings with him feeling deflated, shaken and guilty, as if you did anything to deserve that. He is an expert at deflecting, you cannot win. You must leave or never enter the door. Do not be tempted, do not be swayed by the CEO's posts on Linkedin or the success of Glitch's shows. This place is a content mill that is powered by the souls evacuating the bodies of its employees. I can promise that not one person leaving this company will leave on good terms.

Overworked, Underpaid, Unappreciated

Pros

- The team itself are friendly and kind - Convenient location - Inclusive and diverse company

Cons

- Little to no opportunity for growth and learning or promotion. The extremely tight schedules do not allow for post-mortems of any projects to have any real effect, the next project is rushed straight into production right away. - Extremely heavy-handed micromanagement from the highest ranks of management. - Very unrealistic deadlines and schedules leading to stressed, overworked staff. - Upper management does not understand the creative process despite running a creative studio and thus decisions are made without consulting the team and are left to be tackled by the team, causing large amounts of stress, unpaid overtime and poor work-life balance. - Annual and sick leave is promised to be factored into the schedule, however this then always winds up with the employee having to catch up and do whatever work they would have done while on leave anyway. Employees are also contacted continuously during their leave and at unreasonable hours (sometimes as late as midnight) with answers expected immediately. - "Passion" for the project is turned into a commodity. If you miss a deadline due to it being extremely tight or you don't stay back to work unpaid overtime you are deemed "not passionate" and "untrustworthy". - Hard work is rarely, if ever, acknowledged by upper management, except in general sweeping statements that don't highlight anyone's efforts on an individual level.

Pros

Foot-in-the-door company. Use this place as a stepping stone into your career.

Cons

Overworked, underpaid. Expected OT with no additional remuneration. Zero talent retention. Little to no bonuses or raises (salary increases less than inflation rate and CEO expects you to be grateful). New show release exceeds expectations tenfold and staff are rewarded with a pizza party that barely feeds half the team. Aggressive micromanagement from CEO. Scope of show/tech involved do not match deadlines given. Animators beware as they get the blunt end of the stick every.single.time. Expect to complete roles well outside the duties outlined in your contract and don’t expect additional remuneration. Some staff quite literally are delegated ENTIRE roles upon the resignation of other staff members and, of course, their efforts are not recognised in any way. I’ve seen bright eyed 3D artists enter and leave dead eyed, non of this is an exaggeration. Skill acquisition preys on vulnerable straight-out-of-studies artists who have no choice but to grind their way into the industry. This is not a disgruntled employee, rather someone who has moved on and found out what the true meaning of fair work practices is. You’ve been warned.
