Murky career trajectories and control freaks galore

Pros

-Benefits are decent for a non-profit - Knowledgeable people -Great collaborators at Scripps

Cons

-Pay is not keeping up with inflation. They think a bonus that gets taxed is just as good as a raise. -Hectic work pace and lack of communication from leadership. -Too many control freaks -Bosses talk about work-life balance and then brag about how they work all weekend and expect direct reports to do same. -No clear career trajectory and promotions are slow for most of the worker bees, but not management.

Pros

IAVI has many knowledgeable people that teach you a lot. The co-workers are great in my lab and I enjoy being able to problem solve with them. The research is amazing and their vision of how to reach an HIV vaccine is great.

Cons

The pay at IAVI is not competitive at all. The management says that a work/life balance is a central point at IAVI but these are just words. They expect each person to do the job of 3 people but then are surprised when their workers burn out before their year anniversary. The health and compensation benefits are not great at all. They want to produce a ton of data from their research and do not care if their employees keep leaving.

IAVI Management Needs A Wake Up Call

Pros

Employees are great, hard working, believe in the cause.

Cons

Senior management needs a complete overhaul. The C Suite says they believe in the mission, however, some actions speak louder than words. Some C Suite execs should embrace their immediate job function, focus on being better managers and employee supportive. Stop the departmental in fighting.
