Pros

I guess it's a great environment if yoy make it to Center Director or above...zero accountability, remote work (while your staff toil for 13 hours in office), and you get to treat people terribly.

Cons

Abusive. Worked during every lunch, started handling schedule changes at 6am from home, then worked in office from 7:30am to 7:45 pm daily. Ungrateful management, poorly designed admistrative processes, and a grotesquely incompetent IT team rounded out the worst employment experience of my entire career.

Pros

great colleagues, fun atmosphere, important work teaching students to read and learn.

Cons

No consistency in weekly hours. Very little upward mobility for staff at satellite learning centers. Trainee supports and day-to-day business operations go through frequent overhauls at the whim of the CEO.

Pros

Location, fulfillment teaching students, support from other clinicians

Cons

Low pay, despite requiring a degree. There is little to no diversity among staff, and no people of color in management or leadership positions. In fact, there were only about 2–3 people of color out of roughly 25–30 staff members. There was no adequate support or training for working with students who have behavioral or mental health needs, and staff are discouraged from seeking support when dealing with these challenges. Students face little to no disciplinary consequences and are often allowed to behave however they want. The training provided is redundant, and the mentoring offered is minimal and ineffective. Many of the managers are rude but attempt to frame it as diligence or professionalism. Managers are often dishonest. They do not value loyalty and would rather have a higher turnover than invest in current employees. Consultants are generally supportive when they are available, but they carry an extremely heavy workload. The job requires a significant amount of work within an 8-hour shift, leaving little to no downtime. Ten-minute breaks are often spent cleaning up or preparing for the next class, and the one-hour break is rarely a full hour. Burnout is inevitable in this environment.

Pros

Working with students is rewarding. About 30-50% of the cases I saw significantly improved the students education/ability to read.

Cons

This company values its customers over its employees. Completely uncompetitive salary. I do think this depends on the location - I live in an urban area with a high cost of living but the same position in a different state paid almost the same and would have been almost competitive. I spent a year at this company and always felt like they were going to start offering me something worth my effort but they never did. They promoted me to mentor and Learning Center Assistant, they acknowledged I had a great handle on the curriculum and was a skilled teacher, I was the person responsible for the office when our Office Manager took frequent vacations, or when our Center Director worked from home (three days a week). And yet I was making a salary that hardly put me above the poverty line in my state. I know I was valuable to the company but was not paid as if I was because upper management grossly mishandles their money and is in the red despite charging students' parents $200/hour for instruction.

Your feedback is important to us and helps guide our efforts to improve the workplace and enhance communication. It’s our goal to ensure all learning center staff feel appreciated for the impactful work they do in transforming the lives of students.
