Pros

The people who work there are nice.

Cons

The management is terrible, the pay is extremely low for what the job is and there is no overtime pay. The company is reluctant to promote people and set the bar to unrealistic standards. Many in senior management don't value the lab staff despite them being the backbone of the company.

We are a recognised Living Wage Employer. Meaning that we guarantee all employees are paid at least a living wage as stated by the Living Wage Foundation. We also benchmark our salaries comparatively against other companies to ensure that we are paying in line or above market rates. However, no matter how difficult the feedback is to hear, we will always reflect and keep trying to improve as we strive to be an employer of choice.

Terrible place to work

Pros

There are some amazing, supportive staff.

Cons

Extremely toxic culture. Bullying from the top. Gossip spread around by exec level staff. Dodgy hiring/ firing practices. You will likely be underpaid and work obscene hours. You will be made to do way more than you signed up for. If you complain/ ask for help, you’ll be told you’re not managing your time effectively and it’s your fault. Even if you’re doing the job of 5 people. Most of the higher-level management here is poor in the extreme. They’re inexperienced and ineffectual and it shows.

We are sorry to hear that you felt so sad after your time with us. During the height of the pandemic, we were all remote working and working hard in difficult circumstances to keep the business going, we couldn't see how hard some people were working nor did we do a good job of keeping an eye or checking in. All I can say for sure is that if issues are raised, we do our best to resolve them in the right way as soon as possible. This year we have introduced an employee engagement survey that allows anonymous feedback to be heard, shared and acted upon, our CEO has also introduced an open-door policy. We continue to strive to be an employer of choice, through reviewing working practices, benefits, etc. No matter how difficult the feedback is to hear, we will always reflect and keep trying to improve.

Pros

The engaging concept centred around nature metrics. There are people within the companies I cannot speak highly enough of they truly were wonderful to work with this I enjoyed the natural light from office windows—the most transparent part of the company.

Cons

Resource Mismanagement: The company has a startling habit of setting ambitious goals without furnishing the necessary tools or resources. This systemic failure leaves employees scrambling and underprepared, which not only hampers productivity but also reveals a severe disconnect between the upper management’s expectations and the actual operational capabilities. Misguided Management: Management seems to be navigating without a compass, setting employees up for failure by withholding necessary resources, then wondering why they see no return on their investment. Toxic Leadership Dynamics: My line manager frequently spoke ill of other team members and executives, creating an atmosphere of distrust and paranoia. After sharing negative opinions about colleagues, this manager would often remind me that if these comments were shared outside our conversations and that they would know who it came from. This creates an uncomfortable work environment that feels more about navigating internal politics than focusing on professional growth and productivity. Organizational Instability: Recent redundancies to rebalance P&L and attract investors reflect the company’s broader issues with planning and stability. It's clear that NatureMetrics is struggling to align its internal strategies with its business goals, leading to poor management decisions and wasteful practices

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're sorry to hear that your experience didn’t meet expectations, and we take your concerns seriously. We recognise that there are always challenges with resourcing in a rapidly growing business, our resourcing and prioritisation is something we have under continuous review and we have recently implemented a number of changes for Q4. Regarding leadership, fostering a culture of transparency, integrity, and support is very important to us and we continue to invest in developing our managers through our Management Excellence Academy. We have taken on board your feedback and we will also review this internally. As we grow, we understand that organisational changes can create some instability. We’re focused on supporting our team through these changes with clear and transparent communication. We also appreciate your positive comments about the team and mission. With this in mind, we remain ambitious in our growth plans, confident in the impact we can have globally.
