Bad leadership

Recommend

Business outlook

Pros

Good compensation and benefits. A good place to be a junior.

Cons

Seniority is all they care about. If you're a capable engineer, you'll make some of the old engineers feel insecure about their job. They don't seem to let go of their old bad practices and want to force them on everyone. I've seen so many people burnout within a few months because leadership doesn't care about individuals.

Thanks for your review and feedback. Most of the engineering team (65 people) are seniors as we don't hire junior engineers for now. The technical level of the team is indeed very high but seniority or tenure is not everything. We promoted less experienced people as team leads as you may know, and they are doing great. We practically have no turnover in our technical team and team satisfaction is very high. I see you are a current employee. We'd like to understand better what you are referring to in terms of bad practices and seniority. You can reach out anonymously to one of our team members to discuss your concerns. We listen and care about everyone and we are always looking for ways to get better.

RUN !! Worst place to work

Business outlook

Pros

Salary ( even that is good but not amazing in any way), but honestly no amount of money can ever compensate the horrible culture and terrible individuals inside Nesto.

Cons

highest turnover rate in Canada more than 25%, people leave within weeks and Nesto are trying to hide it by saying anyone who left can not handle fast growing company. Far from truth just check the linked of people who left and see where they went. Horrible Culture, micro management, no career progress. Spreading lies about people leaving and shady practise at best. HR already knows and can do nothing. everything was shared and communicated to more than one person and no one has any interest to fix it

Thank you for sharing your feedback. I understand you do not enjoy your experience working with us. I'm not sure where you took the information about our turnover rate but it's currently less than 5% and has been stable since the start of the company. Our last ambassadorship survey told us that 94% of our colleagues would recommend nesto to a friend as a great place to work. As the vice president of Human resources, I was not told about the practices you are referring to, nor do we pay gift cards for reviews either. As you may know, we're running a quarterly manager 360 survey to make sure we get as much feedback as we can about our management practices to help our managers get improve. Every month, there are promotions within the company and many opportunities for internal advancement. The review says you are a current employee. I would love to take some time with you to further discuss your current experience here at nesto and have a better understanding on the incident that occured, see how we can make your experience better and, mostly, keep you as a colleague. My door is always open, please don't hesitate to reach out. Marie-Eve

Pros

Awesome humans. Great office location (right next to Peel station). Relaxed ambience at the office. Great option for hybrid work. No dress code. Bring your dog. Espresso machine. Free food.

Cons

Fixed mindset on the vision and values. Actions from managers often seem disconnected from the stated values of the company, yet accountability is a constant issue on that front. Don't try to talk to management about attempting to change how things are done: they won't want to hear you. Make sure you ask for permission before taking an initiative. "Ask for forgiveness, not permission" doesn't apply here. You will have a tough time tapping into the learning budget. You will get blamed for your mistakes and will have to figure it out yourself. Very tough environment.

Hi, thanks for sharing your feedback. We're sorry to hear that the role you were hired for was not aligned with your expectations and pace. We know we have awesome humans and we are collecting their feedback continuously. 95% of them would recommend nesto as a great place to work. As per the learning budget, every manager has one and can distribute it equally among their teams. That means one individual can't have more than their peers, for equity purposes. Thanks again for sharing your feedback
