Pros
- Office is near Euston, so easy to commute to - Staff is generally friendly - Exposure to big production companies and names in the industry (good for networking) - Work/life balance is quite good. Office hours are quite flexible, though the organisation seems to change it's policy on working from home quite frequently.
Cons
Salaries are too low. The organisation likes to stress that it's industry-led and industry-funded by the £37 billion UK screen sector, but is adamant that it doesn't have sufficient funds to pay better wages/offer employees decent contracts. Barely any perks or opportunities for growth. The organisation is now offering staff donuts on Fridays if employees manage to keep the kitchen clean. It's not getting much better than this. The organisation is very nepotistic. One of the aims of ScreenSkills is to improve diversity and inclusion across the screen industries. Yet, the organisation allows managers to hire friends and family left, right and center. It's quite cliquish, with loads of petty politics between various teams (particularly film and TV). Senior management is frequently rude and unprofessional to more junior employees. For every employee hired by ScreenSkills, 2 people leave the company. Since the start of summer more than 10 people have resigned and counting.
