Pros

Great colleagues Great Product set Flexible/inflexible working

Cons

Trust. Senior management does not trust employee. Full stop. Favouritism is definitely there and any new joiners becomes a gold dust and will be gold dust until honeymoon period is over. Consistently changing the though process and directions. Senior management is too much hands on and there is no growth path defined for anyone. Being a small organisation; it has to look at that. Does not believe in let people do its own job and drive the things forward. Anyone who grows in the organization, he/she is aptly brought down or shown the door.

Pros

Flexible working hours. Small team. Working from home -- but you must justify for this request. Friendly and helpful colleagues.

Cons

The CTO/ Managing Director is very hands on. While he is good at resolving technical issues, his micro-management behaviours are at best intrusive, disruptive, chaotic, sometimes unwelcome and always prefers quick messy solutions. Best is he will do everybody's job just because he can and leaves you with the mess. Application was designed by one java architect whose been with the company for 10 years and still is -- an archaic legacy application at best and one strange character. Single point of success and failure is with a person, and also the application. Blatant favouritism. For a small company like this the amount of office politics and back-stabbing is unbelievable!

Pros

Nice and friendly people at the bottom of the hierarchy Flexible hours Reasonable work-life balance Small company

Cons

CTO - micromanaging, manupulative, unreliable, intimidating. With a history of promoting/demoting developers as appropriate to retain control. This maintains a... Culture of distrust - back-channel politics and back-stabbing is the norm CEO - didn't seem to have a problem with any of the above team bonds - it's hard to make any because of sky high staff turnover
