High turnover, inexperienced management

Pros

The people who work here are talented and deserve a lot more. The team is making the most of what they can with limited support and leadership. Fun offsite location and activities.

Cons

Communication is always unclear and they bait you with the promise of raises and title changes but rarely does it happen. No clear direction where the company is headed. Priorities change weekly and this is likely due to inexperienced founders and their inability to see the big picture. Relatively high turnover, laid off employees just before the holidays, and not hiring fast enough so the remaining employees have to pull the weight. Not much of a culture anymore,

Bad Management

Pros

- Nice people - Will listen to all engineers ( but sometimes a con since no one will act just speak ) - Can be a good place to take on a lot of ownership

Cons

- Management issues, don't know how to hire or lead as the product grows - A lot of pivoting - Will let go of people with now warning or reason (no performance reviews or things to work on) - Poor customer to developer communication, there were months of customer woes without any communication to stakeholders.

Pros

The only pro to Zeal is the really great people who make the work better. Recruiting did a great job of tricking excellent people into working in complete and utter chaos.

Cons

The main con here is the founders. They do not have the education or experience necessary to run a strong business. There’s clear favoritism and many employees have to fight tooth and nail for pay increases while the founders favorites get bonuses. It’s terrifying witnessing how the founders speak to customers and vendors, because if they’re willing to do that, then they’re not talking to employees with respect either.
