Day 3 Update from Steph Sands, representing Capgemini at the NYC World Pride: Human Rights Conference. In Steph's words: Honored (again!) to represent Capgemini at the Australian Consulate here in New York last night to help our friends at the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras present their bid to host World Pride in 2023. Sydney is a great place to visit and Mardi Gras is an amazing organization with the proven ability to host large scale, world class events and programs. Delighted to lend my 2 decades of Community experience and a little of my professional life to help them with some of the thinking behind it. Congratulations Kate Wickett, Robyn Kennedy, Giovanni Campolo-Arcidiaco, Matt Akersten, Kat Dopper, Paul Savage 🌈 and the many more that made this event so successful. #worldpridesydney2023 #capgemini #worldpride2019 #equality #lifeatcapgemini #leadership #worldpridenyc #outfront
Day 2 Update from Steph Sands who's live in NYC at the World Pride: Human Rights Conference. In Steph's words: So many ideas shared over the past 2 days. The keynote Prince Manvendra Singh Gohil set the tone: “We may come from different Geographies, but our rights are one. They can’t only be won in courtrooms, but also in the hearts and minds of the world we live in”. The bearded Dame, Harnaam Kaur, told her powerful journey to self-acceptance and asked us to consider what we would do if we were forced to conform to the majority. Lots of questions from me about the importance of encouraging true belonging and authenticity in our workplaces. Other highlights included Macy’s Snr Vice President Abigail D James, outlining their fully holistic approach to diversity and inclusion as a foundational value and IBM speaking about the importance of international companies and the progression of global LGBT rights. One of my favourite sessions was from the Victory fund which works to get LGBT identified candidates elected into political systems.
2019 World Pride New York Daily Update: Human Rights Conference. Our Capgemini Sydney employee and representative Steph Sands is sitting in the main lecture theatre at the New York Law School with the world's most active and accomplished LGBTQI activists in the world. Steph says" "... it is nothing short of emotional and overwhelming. I’m also incredibly aware of my privilege with being able to participate in this global Human Rights Conference. Many many lives have been spent in order for us all to bring our true selves to this world without discrimination. But there is a way to go until everyone is included. I’m still dedicated after three decades to keep working towards full inclusion both in my life and in my company. Ps. For all my Indian colleagues- the keynote today is Prince Manvendra Singh Gohil. He is so very inspirational and such an Ambassador for your country.
