Two 45 minute sessions 1- Personality: basic personality questions about the job, why do you want it, why Microsoft, good interviewers and positive vibe from interviewers. 2- Technical: questions about Linux in general how to setup swap space, different between UUID and PartUUID, IOPS and throughput questions, what would you do if a customer complains about speed on a server, how to trace a problem with not getting to a server ping/traceroute/etc., how to troubleshoot a server not booting, how to troubleshoot a bad /etc/fstab setup, why you shouldn't use /dev/sda1 in an /etc/fstab file Initial screening Microsoft replied within an hour of application. It took 1 month for the interview. After the interview Microsoft ghosted me and hasn't replied with any details whatsoever. Maybe next year they'll tell me they didn't choose me, or potentially the unlikely case that they did choose me. The interview process seems inefficient and the bifurcation of interviewing teams leaves a lot to be desired. The technical interviewers did not turn on their cameras, which I found disconcerting. It's okay because this wasn't the job for me. I found something more in line with what I wanted and realized the pitfalls of working at a giant company.
