My hiring manager was very proactive; interviewed me before the recruiter did. For this role I had a phone screen with a recruiter (15 min), two hour-long phone conversations with the hiring manager, and a "finals day" of in-person interviews with four different people with whom I would be working (one of which was the hiring manager).
