      Quality Engineer Interview

      19 May 2014
      Anonymous employee
      Bengaluru
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at SAP (Bengaluru) in Sept 2013

      Interview

Like other companies, there was an initial screening test which was conducted online. It had questions split into 5 sections: aptitude, vocabulary, essay, logical reasoning and coding. Questions were of good standard. The time provided was sufficient to complete the test. After the ppt, they announced the shortlisted candidates and I was one among the 30 candidates shortlisted. Then there were 4 face to face rounds. Each round began with “Tell me about yourself”. The first round was very easy. The interviewer asked me about my area of interest. I told Data structures and Networks. Then he started to ask me questions in Networks. Basic questions like difference between Hub and switch, how to read a file from a flat file DB, malloc, calloc and realloc were asked. Then he asked me the hat puzzle. All the questions were easy to answer. Then the interviewer asked whether I had any questions for him. I asked him about the different areas SAP specializes in and in which one we’ll be put to work. The round took about 20-30 mins. Then I got shortlisted for the second round. He asked me questions from everything related to CS/IT that we have studied right from the 1st year. He asked me puzzles in between. This round took more than an hour and made me tired. Questions like Software Project life cycle, adaptive programming, inheritance, polymorphism, dbms questions, testing questions, etc. were asked and Puzzles such as Bulbs/Switch, make 120 using 5 1’s etc. Then he asked me to design an E-R Diagram for College Management. After showing him my design, he asked me to write a SQL query to retrieve the top 3 students who scored more than others in a subject under IT department. I wrote the query and explained it to him. He was satisfied with the my answer. Then he asked me to explain my best academic project. After that, the interviewer asked if I had any questions for him. I asked about his career in SAP and interestingly he said that he started as a tester and changed his focus to development later. Then I was asked to wait and was sent to another interviewer. He asked me the same puzzles that were asked in second round. After answering him, I told him that it was already asked. Then he started asking me different puzzles. After answering them, he asked me how to test a salt shaker. I answered him and he seemed satisfied. Then he asked about my projects. Finally, I asked him about his career in SAP and the round ended. It took 30 mins. During the final round, the interviewer asked about my parents and their occupation. He asked me how the day started. Then after that there was a pause for a few seconds and he asked me to tell a story. I told him the story plot of the game I played. Crysis Game Series. Then he stopped me in the middle and asked me the three things I learned from playing that game. He was satisfied with my answer and asked me whether I had any questions for him. I asked him those questions that were posed to the previous interviewers. He laughed and asked me to wait for the results. The round took 30-40 mins. Then finally, after hours of waiting I got selected along with 6 others.
