I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Uber (Kansas City, MO) in Mar 2015
Interview
There is no interview. You'll have to submit your registration and insurance documents and they'll do a background check. That's it. Kind of creepy, actually. Just because you don't have an arrest record doesn't mean you'll be a good representative for the company. I suppose they just have too many people hiring on as drivers to do interviews. And the turn-over has got to be super-high, so the hire-rate probably won't let up any time soon.
Also, no drug screen. Again, probably a cost issue, but scary. I may drive for Uber, but I'm unlikely to ride with them since I know more than one driver who's a user and the company doesn't check for that.
No interview needed and basically everything is online process. Own a 7 years or newer car and smart phone to navigate the ride. Full G is a must based on Ontario

Question 1
If I own a car and have smartphone with plan service
There is no interview process. Uber lets you come on if you have a current car and registration. Easy process to go through. It takes about a day or two in order to go through.
I applied through other source. I interviewed at Uber
Interview
Absolutely no interview required; only an application period where you must be approved based on background check, driving record, vehicle approval, and insurance verification. After the process, you are ready to hit the road. That was a big seller for me; the ability to begin making money very soon after applying.

Uber does not conduct any interview questions. You may have to have an encounter in a Greenlight Hub, but it is not a formal interview process
