I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Uber in July 2016
Interview
The process took 1 month overall - extremely quick and fast paced process!
1. 30min phone screening interview with recruiters
2. 2 Hour Analytical test -- definitely not the simplest thing in the world, I'd recommend getting very knowledgeable about Uber's business model, metrics and Excel (pivot tables, data tables, formulas etc). There are some prep courses that can be quite helpful as well.
3. 30 min video interview with an Uber Ops manager
4. You are given an assignment to draft up 3 presentations - definitely extremely time consuming and requires ALOT of effort to do well. Highly recommend giving everything you got with this.
5. 1.5 hrs Panel Interview presenting your presentations to a panel where they grill you with questions - this one was quite tough as they asked all kinds of questions and on the spot tactical questions which are really tough to answer in an interview
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
- Tell me about your experience working with data, go into detail about the process you took to solving a problem with data?
- What process did you take to develop a plan to grow your business? Be tactical.
- How would you tell a restaurant that they need to optimize their times stated in the Uber EATS app? (i.e: their time they have stated in the Uber EATS app vs the time it actually takes to make and deliver the food)
- Say you have a month to launch Uber Eats in a location what would be your tactical plan to do that, how would you staff up, how much would you pay them, how would you onboard restuarants?
- Tactically how would you lead a team of 2 to communicate to over 1000 restaurants that have all responded to you about an email update you sent out?
3 stage process (made it to stage 2). Round 1 was generic screening and round 2 was panel - Questions in panel were easy and conversational, nothing technical more examples of work and questions about CV - straightforward interviews and clear feedback given when rejected.
The interview process was fine but it was also very difficult. Everyone I spoke to was kind and professional. I enjoyed the experience. In the end I didn't get an offer.

Question 1
Uber's delivery costs have gotten much higher. What can it do to address this problem?
Two interviews and a case study. Everyone was very friendly and the hiring team went out of their day to be helpful and supportive throughout the process. They gave great, honest feedback.
