I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Uber (San Francisco, CA) in Feb 2019
Interview
I applied online (Uber Marketplace team) and heard back from recruiter about 2 days later and scheduled the initial phone screen 3 days from I submitted my application. Amazed by how fast they acted. Then they scheduled a tech phone interview with a current data scientist from the team. The data scientist was very professional and the interview process was very pleasant. Heard back that I passed a day later. Then the next step is a take home challenge given 7 days to finish. There were several tracks you are allowed to pick (ML, Operations, Stats, etc.) depending on your background. I submitted the take home. Took about 2 weeks to get feedback. I was pretty confident about the take home but unfortunately the team decided not to move forward. No feedback was provided regarding why I did not pass the take home.

Interview
My interview started with a stats coding round where I was asked to code for expected value for a problem and the second interview was a case study which was quite easy

Question 1
Expected value for a dice problem and a case study about a Uber problem
The process was smooth and well organized. A recruiter initially reached out, followed by a first round consisting of two interviews—one with the team manager and another with a data scientist, both engaging and informative.
Failed at technical screening round. Recruiter told me I will be tested on SQL, but I got tested on Python as well. Did not prepare well for that interview and didn't get moved forward
