I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Uber (Mountain View, CA) in Feb 2019
Interview
- Internal Referral
- Recruiter reached out to me by email and scheduled a phone call
- Recruiter call. Recruiter was being nice but talking very fast.
- Sent out my portfolio link; I guess this is for internal team-matching. If any team is interested in talking to you, you will be notified.
- After almost two weeks I think? I got notified that there is a team would like to interview me.
- Scheduled another 30 minutes call with the team lead. The meeting actually got rescheduled twice - we had a call after two weeks
- the call with the team lead went pretty well. Although I noticed when I was talking about myself, the team lead put me on mute...?? That was a little bit rude in my opinion.
- After a week, I got email saying they will not proceed my candidacy.

Interview
It was alright overall. Initial phone screen, portfolio review, and final on-site round. Didn't get to the final round. The interviewers were very quiet and barely had reactions. Wish they could give me a quick feedback after the interview.

The interview process typically includes an initial screening call, followed by a portfolio review to discuss past work and design thinking. The final stage consists of multiple 1:1 interviews and a collaborative whiteboard or problem-solving exercise.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Uber (San Francisco, CA) in Oct 2025
Interview
The first step is recruiter call, then portfolio walkthrough with VP of design and another designer on the team, lastly a panel interview with cross-functional partners like PM and engineering. Because it was a mid level position so it only had 3 rounds

Question 1
What was your role in the cross-functional collaboration?
