I applied through university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Workday in Feb 2019
Interview
I took a technical test and then had a 30 minute Zoom interview with the hiring manager. The technical test was more to filter out candidates who weren't serious about the job, but it was fairly easy and everything you needed could be Googled. They got back to me after a week to set up a Zoom interview and I honestly felt like the Zoom interview went really well and I felt like I got along with the hiring manager.
The interview was really straightforward, and he went over the job description and how the summer goes for interns. He kept phrasing things as, "You will be getting a housing stipend..." or "You will be taking this certification exam..." so I felt really confident and like he already saw me in the role. He then asked me a few questions, and the end of the interview was me asking him questions. All very straightforward and easy, and I felt really good about it. He told me I would hear back by the end of the week (I interviewed on a Monday) or at the latest midweek of the following week.
After 3 weeks, though, I hadn't heard anything back so I followed up with the recruiter. She never got back to me, and after one more week I had another job offer, so I followed up with the hiring manager to let him know I was really serious about working for Workday. One more week passed and I got a no-reply email that told me I didn't get the job. I was pretty disappointed that I didn't get an email directly from the recruiter, but I guess that's just how it goes. Maybe she was annoyed that I was pushy and sent follow up emails? Who knows. In the end I think it worked out for the best because I don't think I would have loved that job, but I just wish I'd heard directly from the recruiter or hiring manager and didn't get an automated email. Oh well!
It was pretty easy, the interviewer was nice. Very straightforward, with typical first interview questions. She was quite friendly too which made me less nervous. Although it took a while to hear back.
