Work Location: Hedland Operations – located on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people.

Roster: 8 Days On / 6 Off – FIFO from Perth or Residential Port Hedland

We’re looking for a motivated Rollingstock Reliability Engineer to join our Reliability Engineering team at Hedland Operations.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineer who’s passionate about problem-solving, continuous improvement, and learning in a fast-paced heavy haul rail environment. You’ll be part of a collaborative team focused on improving the performance, reliability, and safety of our Rollingstock fleet — with plenty of opportunities to develop your technical capability and make a real impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Support investigations into Rollingstock failures and engineering issues, identifying root causes and practical, sustainable solutions.
• Contribute to reliability reviews and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance asset performance and reduce defects.
• Assist in the planning, coordination and delivery of reliability improvement projects.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance and Procurement teams to support safe, reliable and efficient rail operations.
• Analyse condition monitoring and maintenance data to identify trends and recommend reliability improvements.
• Support the development and optimisation of condition monitoring systems and asset protection technologies.
• Identify opportunities to improve maintenance strategies, processes and equipment performance.
• Assist with asset life cycle planning, including monitoring asset health and developing replacement strategies.
• Contribute to best practice asset management principles and continuous improvement across the Asset Management & Engineering team.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience working with rollingstock.
• Previous experience in engineering, reliability, maintenance or asset management roles.
• Experience within heavy industry, rail, mining or a similar operational environment is highly regarded.
• Sound understanding of reliability engineering principles and asset management methodologies.
• Experience interpreting condition monitoring data and maintenance information is desirable.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
• A proactive mindset with a genuine passion for continuous improvement and engineering excellence.
