You will provide expert advice and guidance on EXIM compliance matters, supporting the business to meet its regulatory obligations and operational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Provide trusted, expert advice to stakeholders across the business on EXIM compliance, including the shipment, transfer, and documentation of controlled goods and technical data
Determine the business licensing needs and related risks, and then design and execute strategies to secure, maintain and govern the required authorisations so the business objectives are met on time.
Ensure compliance with applicable all applicable International export control regulations and internal policies
Lead, mentor, and support team members, contributing to a collaborative and high-performing team environment
Interpret complex legislation and translate it into clear, practical guidance for internal stakeholders
Review and provide advice on Australian export and supply applications prior to submission to Defence Export Control (DEC)
Provide advanced guidance on Incoterms, Free Trade Agreements, and preferential duty programs
Help drive global trade‑compliance by improving procedures, bolstering internal safeguards, offering specialized training, and keeping audit readiness at the forefront
About you:
This role is ideal for a high-performing team member looking to further develop their expertise in International trade with emphasis on export control compliance with a strong focus on Australian, U.S and European export control legislation.
To be considered you must have:
Demonstrated experience (3-4 years) or strong understanding of US, Australian and International export control legislation
Strong understanding of international trade operations, specifically in the Defence environment
Proven ability to lead, with a willingness to support and develop others
Exemplary attention to detail with the ability to manage complex regulatory requirements in a structured and accurate manner
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interpret legislation and translate it into clear, practical, and business-focused guidance for stakeholders
A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement
Experience supporting or working within a multi-jurisdictional or global trade compliance environment
Strong stakeholder management skills
Special Requirements:
Applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance and employment may be contingent on the provision of further personal information including citizenship to ensure compliance with international export control legislation and regulations.
