Ocean Protect is a national company with offices in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. We have invested more than 20 years in becoming an industry leader in the development, delivery and maintenance of innovative efficient site-specific stormwater runoff solutions. 

This is a professional design engineering role focused on providing Ocean Protect’s internal and external customers with the best practice design solutions. This function requires close liaison within our multidisciplinary team of internal presales engineers, engineering and production personnel.

Role duties and responsibilities

The role is responsible for developing environmental and stormwater treatment solutions for clients, with a focus on reducing pollution runoff and meeting relevant planning and environmental requirements.

Key duties include:

• Assessing development sites and analysing stormwater runoff to determine appropriate treatment solutions.
• Calculating treatment requirements and recommending suitable products to minimise pollutant discharge.
• Designing product layouts that achieve high treatment efficiency while minimising the physical footprint on site.
• Using MUSIC by eWater to model rainfall, stormwater runoff and pollutant loads from proposed developments.
• Preparing technical deliverables, including plans, specifications and production drawings, using AutoCAD.
• Designing treatment systems in accordance with civil and hydraulic plans provided by clients and consultant engineers.
• Ensuring proposed stormwater treatment systems comply with Council requirements, Water Sensitive Urban Design guidelines, Local Environmental Plans and relevant State Environmental Planning Policies.
• Liaising with sales and specification teams to recommend practical, efficient treatment solutions that meet client and site requirements.
• Supporting clients and internal teams with technical advice on stormwater treatment design and environmental performance.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor of Engineering, preferably Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in stormwater treatment system design.
• Experience preparing technical drawings, drafting and rendering using AutoCAD.
• Experience using MUSIC by eWater for stormwater modelling.
• Strong understanding of stormwater quality management, WSUD principles, Council requirements and relevant environmental planning policies.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $85,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year
