Inclusive culture, bad skill development - Operations Analyst Accenture Employee Review

Pros

Inclusive culture, if you're into making friends at work, well, you're not gonna have a choice since you're traveling Mon-Thursday/Friday (and occasional weekends.) But that's consulting in general. They really do try and keep things lighthearted and friendly. If you don't mind travel you're gonna kill it with points and rewards at airlines/hotels/etc. Company has been growing constantly for the last several years and tends to do even better when the economy downturns (since it's an outsourcing operation.)

Cons

Biggest con is the rapid switching of projects and the fact that you're only doing minimal work for a client (a lot of the "hard skills" are outsourced by the company to other vendors / done overnight in India) means that your own personal skillset rarely develops beyond what I would call "marketable level." You can say you've got experience with a TON of different technologies / environments, but you're never going to be able to compete in any specific one of those skills beyond perhaps intermediate level. It's a get in, get 2 years expereince, get out comapny. A lot of the leadership "boomeranged" in this way, starting off at a consulting company, go out and get "real" expertise in something, then slide back into management. Not good to stay at out of college.

Pros

There are a lot of pros working for Accenutre. They have great career opportunities, a never ending supply of interesting work, competitive compensation, wonderful benefits, great people, wonderful training programs, a tremendous number of brilliant professionals in their fields ready to help, and great core values.

Cons

This is not an opportunity for those that do not want to work. At Accenture everyone has a load of work to do and often times under very tight customer time lines. It is a challenge that I enjoy but many might find it stressful.
