Pros

American Express pays well (I was making 16.94 an hour starting pay plus up to $1000 in bonus per month), they have great health, dental, and even legal insurance, and amazing 401K plan with employer contributions up to 5% match and 4 weeks paid vacation starting (bank holidays are not given if you want them you have to book them using your 4 weeks.

Cons

A few downsides to working at American Express are: 1) the call center environment can be an absolute nightmare (like most call centers) while I was working there I developed so much stress that I gained 70 pounds in a year and some other serious health conditions including heart-burn, depression, anxiety and back pain (the chair they provide you can be very uncomfortable) 2) Your leaders say that they care about you, that they think about you and how they can help you and that they "don't care about the numbers" and that they "just want to make sure you are happy here" but that's a total lie, my wife and I both worked there and we both had the same experience, Team Leaders that would tell you one thing and then talk about you behind your back. They would say how great you're doing and then complain to their leaders about how their team doesn't do well. So all in all the leadership could be better. 3) Trying to get promoted or move to a different department is near to impossible. I knew people that had been "on the floor" for 3+ years and had been trying to get into a different department but couldn't. Let's just say it pays to have friends in high places at American Express.

Pros

- Complimentary lunch and starbucks everyday - On-site clinic for basic check ups - Hybrid

Cons

you will be taking phone calls every minute of the day. There will come a time where you feel like at the bottom of the world. You will ask yourself "is my role in life to help people reset their password online and assist them in logging in?" You cannot use the bathroom whenever you want, they have time coding that if you "abuse" them you will be flagged and subject to discipline. You have to give world class service but at the same time rush them off the phone or else you are not getting paid a good bonus. You will quickly find yourself gasping for air and time to relax when you take 50+ calls a day , you will feel drained. When is finally time to move up there is a high chance you will be paid less than you're current role as there are no bonuses in higher roles.
