Pros
- Health insurance is good - Remote work without pressure to go to office - Culture was nice - My specific Senior Manager is good (probably the only reason to not quit immediately)
Cons
The company does not know how to deal with the current market. They are desperate trying to beat a number of new AI-based startups by investing in an AI-first vision, but it is already losing this race (and the shareholder trust). Now we have engineers who are forced (and praised) to use and do AI, even when they have no clue on what they are doing. And, on top of all that, performance metrics. There is now an informal saying “one PR a day keeps PIP away”. All I see now is bad engineers leading practices because they are good at using Claude, good engineers with bad performance because they can’t work well with machines and a number of really bad engineers who are great at masking their lack of skills with a decent number of code contributions. Also, the company is creating new metrics, priorities, teams and processes almost every month. Clearly management have no idea what they are doing - I wish THEY were replaced by AI or put in a PIP.
