Good company, but technologically stubborn - Senior Software Developer SAP Employee Review

Pros

- The company's greatest asset is truly considered to be its employees. - Really good benefits and compensation. - A large international company and the pros that come with that (i.e. corporate stability, etc). - Tons of jobs/roles for techs and non-techs alike. - Work from home (project-dependent)

Cons

- Can be rather slow to adopt newer technologies such as cloud, etc. (however, the company is moving rapidly to cloud-based technologies) - Not really a full advocate of open-source software (this is slowly getting better....slowly though) - A large international company and the cons that come with that (i.e. layoffs, etc). - Policies can feel kind of scattered at times since they frequently purchase smaller companies.

Thank you for your detailed review. The people at SAP really are great - bright, innovative, and making a difference in the world. Being such a large international company, there are a lot of local policies and procedures in place that need to be adjusted to local legislation, but where it can, the company is trying to ensure benefits & values for all its employees globally.

Pros

I really liked my role at SAP. After being a cloud Customer Success Manager supporting strategic clients for several years, I moved into a group doing digital customer outreach including producing newsletters, release enablement, webcasts, documentation, event registrations, etc. Salary and bonuses were good, no complaints there.

Cons

No real cons for the job that I was in, except that our group was eliminated by the corporate restructuring and reduction in workforce in North America in 2025. I would have loved to stay but unfortunately we probably showed up on a restructuring spreadsheet somewhere and it was determined that our services were no longer needed. We off-boarded most of our work to other existing employees (who already had full time jobs), which felt unfair to them, but that is how it shook out.
