Pros

Company with a very large client base and a wide range of Industry solutions to cover the Business Processes a customer needs. SAP is market leader in their peer group of ERP software providers. In the past SAP had a great customer focus and was willing to develop up to date products for Industries which made the difference in the Sales cycle.

Cons

SAP is loosing their customer focus in the core industries over the last 5 years. Consulting Services are degenerated towards a pure Software Sales enabling Service. SAP consulting services can not compete against other Service providers in the market when it comes to large scale projects. Management does not have a mid term and long term strategy for the consulting area. Management is mainly working with career changers on strategic positions which leads to a dramatic lack of Industry knowledge. Over the last 8 years the company achieved their economic targets just by cutting costs.

Pros

I really liked my role at SAP. After being a cloud Customer Success Manager supporting strategic clients for several years, I moved into a group doing digital customer outreach including producing newsletters, release enablement, webcasts, documentation, event registrations, etc. Salary and bonuses were good, no complaints there.

Cons

No real cons for the job that I was in, except that our group was eliminated by the corporate restructuring and reduction in workforce in North America in 2025. I would have loved to stay but unfortunately we probably showed up on a restructuring spreadsheet somewhere and it was determined that our services were no longer needed. We off-boarded most of our work to other existing employees (who already had full time jobs), which felt unfair to them, but that is how it shook out.
