Pros

Large company with global reach. Great brand recognition. Opportunity to work on diverse projects. Good benefits package overall.

Cons

Excessive Micromanagement & Unconstructive Criticism: My experience was significantly impacted by a management style characterized by extreme micromanagement. Minor details, such as sending an internal email a few minutes past an arbitrary deadline or joining a Zoom call slightly late due to an ongoing update, were consistently magnified into significant issues. Even professionally written and factually correct emails were subject to disproportionate scrutiny regarding their style. While I consistently met or exceeded expectations, small, infrequent errors were treated with undue severity. Negative & Unreceptive Feedback Cycle: Attempts to acknowledge feedback or apologize were frequently met with the manager doubling down on their original criticism, rather than engaging in constructive dialogue or moving forward. There was a consistent lack of positive reinforcement or encouraging feedback, leading to a perpetually disgruntled and unapproachable atmosphere. Lack of Team Cohesion & Siloed Environment: The team culture was not one of collaboration or support. Colleagues often felt siloed, with little sense of camaraderie or shared purpose. This created an isolating work environment.

Pros

I really liked my role at SAP. After being a cloud Customer Success Manager supporting strategic clients for several years, I moved into a group doing digital customer outreach including producing newsletters, release enablement, webcasts, documentation, event registrations, etc. Salary and bonuses were good, no complaints there.

Cons

No real cons for the job that I was in, except that our group was eliminated by the corporate restructuring and reduction in workforce in North America in 2025. I would have loved to stay but unfortunately we probably showed up on a restructuring spreadsheet somewhere and it was determined that our services were no longer needed. We off-boarded most of our work to other existing employees (who already had full time jobs), which felt unfair to them, but that is how it shook out.
