Pros

Formerly you would be sent to Houston nearly once a year for 1-2 weeks of training. This is a minor perk though. There really isn’t much else to be happy with in this dysfunctional affiliate. I absolutely felt the need to write this review as I believe there are completely false reviews written below (especially the most recent reviews ). This place has gotten even worse than it already was post COVID. I seriously expect the PGA department (effectively public relations department) are behind the below reviews - they are so devoid from the reality of working here that only a promotion agenda can explain this Pay is significantly short of resource industry average (surprising I know!). There are no bonuses in the Exxon system either so forget about that.

Cons

Absolutely toxic individuals at supervisor level. It is very far spread - beware what you are getting into. Knowledge transfer is extremely limited - the utter failure ‘competitive ranking system’ (PDS process) seems to promote coveting of knowledge and it is absolutely destructive to teamwork. Many systems here are abysmal/dysfunctional. I don’t like having to write a review like this - but again I think it is only fair that prospective employees know what they are signing up for give the clearly false positive reviews written below

Not what it is portrayed

Pros

Relatively good pay, that's all about it

Cons

Working as a Contractor (or as they called it HAT Contractor) for ExxonMobil (Esso Australia) is like working in the US during the slavery period. You are an outsider, they don't say hello to you, they don't share any data with you. You are a paid labourer and just a number. No plan or vision, they just make things up as they go. They hire you and don't listen. Technically poor people only waste money.

Pros

Good salary and regular benefits. Potential exposure to large portfolio of energy projects

Cons

Not a great work culture. Performance system design to incentive individualistic performance rather than team performance. Unhealthy competition. Opaque career development system.
