I have been working at Hays full-time

    Pros

Great to work for a company that actually invests in development. Coming in as an Associate without any experience and having the support to grow and develop a strong career.

    Cons

Previously I would have said the office needs updating however this has since been done so no cons unless you don't want to work in sales.

    I worked at Hays full-time

    Pros

Great company culture - staff & management are friendly and approachable.
    Career progression opportunities.
Good IT system that is tailored and built specifically for the business.
Fast paced working environment with opportunities to meet candidates and clients from various industries and backgrounds.
Several opportunities to contribute to company or team led fundraising.
Other perks include monthly drinks with staff from offices all around Sydney.

    Cons

Support staff are remunerated below average in the market.
Support staff and recruiters are not treated equally. There is an unspoken segregation where recruiters (being the direct source of sales income) are favoritised .

    Pros

If you're an ambitious and driven person who wants to have a successful and fulfilling career, this is a great business and office to work for. Yes it is a sales environment so there are KPI's around relationship building through calls and meetings, so you need to be confident to challenge yourself and trust what you're learning.

    Cons

I think the pros far out weigh any potential cons

I have been working at Hays full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I started in this business as an associate and in less than two years had two promotions! The career structure is very transparent and what you need to do to get promoted is very clear from the start.

Amazing training, had no recruitment experience beforehand and I learned everything I needed to be successful either on the job or in training.

There's a high achiever culture in the business, but everyone is very supportive.

    Cons

Not so much a con more of a statement, but working in recruitment is going to be challenging and requires long hours. Whatever work you put in will show in your results though

I have been working at Hays full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It sounds cheesy, but there is no limit to what you can achieve at Hays if you're willing to work for it. I had a bit of a negative perception about recruitment prior to joining the business, but from my first interview at Hays I was impressed by the professionalism and passion of every Consultant I met in the business and realised Hays was different. I guess I didn't appreciate that within 6 months I could be consulting with global accounting firms on their hiring strategies. The amount you learn in the Associate program is incredible and the training and support you receive throughout guarantees your development. The best thing about Hays though is the people; every day you work with switched on, engaged individuals, which is extremely motivating! The recognition you get for doing well at Hays makes the hard work worth it, not just the financial rewards and incentives, but the genuine support you get from management and your broader team is immense. There really is no culture like it!

    Cons

If you're not driven to develop yourself, work hard and take accountability for your own success, this is probably not the right environment for you.

    Advice to Management

You have created a phenomenal culture of hard work, collaboration and celebrating success. Educate people on what a career in recruitment at Hays can offer.

I worked at Hays full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The office in the CBD is nice and modern

    Cons

The admin staff do not get treated very well We were expected to clean the kitchens as they didn’t hire cleaners despite earning huge amounts in recruitment. The admin staff were seen as second class to the rest of the company My friend asked me if she should consider a job there and I advised there will be far better offices to work in, despite the glitz and glamour it may look from the outside. A lot of the admin girls sleep around and get a bad name for themselves.
This sleep around culture is all too common.

    Advice to Management
