I have been working at Hays part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    - Progress on the company approach to true flexibility
    - Complete office renovation
    - Development of a country wide Wellness program
    - Consideration of individual circumstances when recruiting new staff members
    - Genuine reward and recognition for delivery of tangible results

    Cons

    - Office workstations and kitchen - due to staff feedback this is being currently actioned
    - Current technology hardware and limited 'on the road' access
    - Lack of communication from Group Head Office - efforts being made locally to rectify

    Advice to Management

    - Listen to your people - you have smart people working for you
    - Continue to recognise and promote from within
    - Continue to develop true flexibility and ensure individuals are heard
    - Continue to build on the technology developments

I have been working at Hays full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Do you have a talent for sales? Are you driven? Are you passionate about making money? Do you want to make lifelong friends? Hays is for you

    Cons

Do you love power? Are you greedy? Do you love having the freedom to put people down? Do you want to manage a large team but have no formal (or informal) qualifications? Do you enjoy watching people squirm when you trick them into doing something wrong or making a mistake? Or better yet, are you thrilled when you make a mistake and can blame it on an underling? Hays is for you (fast track to people management).

    Advice to Management

Nothing. You guys have it all figured out. More rewards and flexibility for management level and above wouldn’t go astray, we work REALLY hard. 10/10, will never leave because, well, I could never get a job ANYWHERE else in the world with the title ‘Director’.

I worked at Hays full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The training is fantastic and there is a great career structure.

    Cons

    Very high KPIs
    Salary is very low until
You become a Senior consultant which can take 2-3 years.
Not a very good commission structure. You are unlikely to make any commission for first 6 - 8 months and it’s not great after that.

    Advice to Management

Make the commission structure better and increase the base salary. Especially for the associates. You will retain a lot more staff.

I have been working at Hays full-time

    Pros

Great to work for a company that actually invests in development. Coming in as an Associate without any experience and having the support to grow and develop a strong career.

    Cons

Previously I would have said the office needs updating however this has since been done so no cons unless you don't want to work in sales.

    I worked at Hays full-time

    Pros

Great company culture - staff & management are friendly and approachable.
    Career progression opportunities.
Good IT system that is tailored and built specifically for the business.
Fast paced working environment with opportunities to meet candidates and clients from various industries and backgrounds.
Several opportunities to contribute to company or team led fundraising.
Other perks include monthly drinks with staff from offices all around Sydney.

    Cons

Support staff are remunerated below average in the market.
Support staff and recruiters are not treated equally. There is an unspoken segregation where recruiters (being the direct source of sales income) are favoritised .

I have been working at Hays full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

If you're an ambitious and driven person who wants to have a successful and fulfilling career, this is a great business and office to work for. Yes it is a sales environment so there are KPI's around relationship building through calls and meetings, so you need to be confident to challenge yourself and trust what you're learning.

    Cons

I think the pros far out weigh any potential cons

I have been working at Hays full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I started in this business as an associate and in less than two years had two promotions! The career structure is very transparent and what you need to do to get promoted is very clear from the start.

Amazing training, had no recruitment experience beforehand and I learned everything I needed to be successful either on the job or in training.

There's a high achiever culture in the business, but everyone is very supportive.

    Cons

Not so much a con more of a statement, but working in recruitment is going to be challenging and requires long hours. Whatever work you put in will show in your results though
