I have been working at Hays full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Clearly defined career path
    Supportive Environment
    Minimal Micro Management

    Cons

    Dated and unreliable IT infrastructure
Culture can become too toxic/political at times
Low base Salary and uncompetitive commissions

    Advice to Management

Directors and senior management should be less dismissive of how unreliable our IT have become

The amount of hours lost due to phone and server issues has increased to an almost daily occurrence

Very impressed with change in direction of our culture of celebration - less alcohol focused and more focus on health and well being - great idea!

    I worked at Hays full-time

    Pros

Best training you will ever get in recruitment.

    Cons

Long hours. Stale traditional recruitment settings and procedures. No evolvement. Don't care for candidates (surprise surprise) Only promote those who have stuck around, not actually good at their job... dumb infact. Sector management are bullies - but that's only because they feel threatened. Terrible starting salaries.

    Advice to Management

If you see in house talent nurture it, don't turn on it. Being friendly and approachable doesn't go astray.

I worked at Hays full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are very little Pros about Hays, the only ones I could possibly highlight is that you have the opportunity to move around the world (if there's a vacant position, don't count on them doing you any favours) and the other would be their initial training program.

    Cons

To set the scenes I worked for Hays as a successful biller for just under two years, with previous sales and recruitment background, so this isn't the case of a disgruntled ex-employee that couldn't hack it.

They sell sell them selves as a "People company that cares about you" no one in the upper management of that business cares for anyone other that their own wallet. They are con men at their finest finding anyway to talk you into a corner (both employees, candidates and clients) they use bully tactics because their a large company and even if you know you working rights and get that they're trying to manipulate you, there is very little you can do without seeking legal help.

Past the actual training program they do very little to help develop you, you get pulled in to regular group meeting to get constantly moaned at, even when you are smashing you targets.

Hays is the worst company I've ever worked at in my career!!!

    Advice to Management

    Do as you preach!

Pay Peanuts and you get Monkeys!

I have been working at Hays full-time

    Pros

Good people & systems/training. Good events

    Cons

Absolute kick in the teeth to report bullying to senior management and find out that the perpetrator has now been promotied following that fact. CONGRAULATIONS. List of people that we know of who have been maliciously victimised and targeted by this person in question:

    *names removed*

    Advice to Management

The fact that you know who this is about says so much. Says it all. How could you do this. After what she has done. You will be losing some good people if you choose to reward those who bully and betray and say they’re just not “fluffy” enough. Shocked. Everyone is shocked.
