Pros

They will help remind you of the importance of trust, integrity and professionalism in the workplace.

Cons

I’m writing this review as a warning to all potential employees. I started with excitement and high hopes but quickly realized I had made a huge mistake. I wouldn’t wish anyone to experience what I or many of my friends and colleagues went through. 1) First off, many of the positive reviews here are almost certainly written by management or under their “encouragement”. During my first 3 months I was constantly harassed by management and HR to leave a review. -Red flag anyone? They do this because you’ve just started down the rabbit hole and will probably have some nice things to say. On the other hand, I can see that if they waited to ask after 3 months, they probably wouldn’t have any reviews at all. -At least not positive ones. 2) Most managers and senior leadership are petty, insecure and ill-equipped for the job. They will make promises they don’t keep, bombard you with useless information and “coaching” (which would be better called “tactical abuse time” or “Kool-Aid waterboarding hour”), and otherwise promote a culture of distrust and disfunction. You can expect all of this and more with a smile. Oh yeah, and if you’re not smiling, don’t worry, they’ll give you a book on how to be a better human. Problem solved! 3) What otherwise would be a good product is corrupted by poor leadership. Nobody knows what’s going on and it changes all the time. Strategy is an afterthought. You will be making 70+ calls a day to leads that have been called dozens of times before in a fully saturated market. What’s that quote about insanity? If I sound angry, I no longer am. -Just disappointed I devoted myself to an organization and to people that only care about themselves. I suppose, after all, I should say thanks for teaching me a valuable lesson in self-preservation. To all that go forward, may God bless you.

Be VERY Weary of the Company

Pros

There are some great bottom tier people at Petdesk who are really trying to do their best job there.

Cons

I wasn't planning on leaving a review, but when you read so many fake 4 & 5 star reviews it makes me very mad. This company is on it's last legs. It's a sinking ship. Too bad but thats what arrogance and deceitfulness gets you. The problem? They have very dysfunctional management. Think revenge of the nerds. The CEO just hired the wrong people. It pains me to call them "management". Please, if you are reading this and thinking that working with vets is cool, please stop and read the bad reviews because they are the truth. Really you are trying to call overworked and underpaid front desk clerks and vet techs for the 1000th time. Hang ups are common and you will hardly ever speak with a vet. Product is over priced. Just so many lies at this company. Just don't apply here. You will be miserable! Not sure they are even able to support a sales staff any more. Much better companies to work for in a large city like San Diego.

Pros

The best part about working for PetDesk, were the trauma bonds created with people on the team. At first, we were hired based on our love for animals and experience in the veterinary industry, however that quickly became unimportant after several management changes and acquisitions.

Cons

Drastically underpaid in comparison to other companies hiring for the same position. A fairly low starting salary will be promised with on target earnings, however they will set goals at numbers that cannot be reached. And if they are reached? They will move the bar. This company will do whatever they can, not to pay their employees a fair salary. Technical issues daily. Whether it be messy lead drops, never getting leads at all, or personal tech issues that are left unsolved for weeks. They will absolutely not take these issues into consideration when looking at your performance, do not expect grace. Extremely high employee turnover. Over 30 SDR's turned over within one year. Leaves very little space for team building, or camaraderie. In addition, 3 team managers within a 3 month period. (No, they will not take this into account when looking at performance.) No forward movement. Although it is promised upon hiring, there are very few opportunities for raises or promotions. Not even $1 after a year of work.

Thank you for the review and detailed feedback. I'm sorry that you left us feeling used. The SDR position is very difficult and has been the driving force behind our company for a decade. It is a higher turnover area of our business, but we've never wanted to devalue it or the humans in the seat doing the challenging work. Your insights about employee support and career development are valuable, and we are taking steps to reposition the team in the market for better opportunities. Thank you for your contributions, and I wish you success in your future endeavors.
