A truly horrible place

Pros

I wish I could share something positive apart from commenting that some of my former coworkers from the old Solarwinds were a decent group of people. Perhaps one other positive is that the company has finally gotten rid of their CRO that was in way over her head though I hear reports that the incoming CRO has an interesting reputation so likely shall not be any better.

Cons

There is no direction for the company apart from the obvious direction down the plug hole with an incompetent and self serving CEO at the helm. His cronies pander to him and life at the working level is just an unpleasant experience fuelled by bullying and ineffective management layers. The company often engages in questionable sales and channels practices which is a well known “secret”. Avoid this lame duck of a company at all costs.

Avoid at all cost

Pros

No Pros - free lunch on Thursdays?

Cons

Avoid at all costs if you have experience and have worked for reputable companies. The marketing department has been in disarray for over 2 years, going from bad to worse. Following a wave of layoffs in 2023 that left teams skeletal, and a power struggle between a clueless CMO and empire-building US-based VPs, the CEO ousted the CMO and brought in an outsider. New year, new leadership – the new CMO arrived with promises of transformation, holding kumbaya meetings and talking big every week about potential changes. Seven months later, there's still no sign of a new marketing strategy. Teams are still relying on the same ineffective tactics. Surprise, surprise – the new CMO is recycling the same old formula: layoffs, hiring outsiders, and reorganizing essential functions, all while retaining ineffective leaders. Despite claims of transformation, it's business as usual. Is this starting to smell like fake news? It seems the new leader is more interested in building his own brand than solving our problems

Unhealthy workplace so avoid.

Pros

free food once a week, used to have good tools.

Cons

The CEO's decision to enforce a three-day office attendance policy and threaten to monitor swipe card access is not helping the business and the team morals. True leadership requires leading by example, yet it seems the CEO and their inner circle are exempt from these rules. It's essential for leaders to uphold fairness and consistency. Everyone should be held to the same standards, without exceptions. It's time for the CEO to demonstrate integrity and apply their own policies uniformly. Employees deserve fair treatment and transparency, not arbitrary mandates and double standards and don’t try to speak to the HR, they won’t do anything but will come at you

Pros

I was paid regulary and benefits were reasonable.

Cons

I was hired into an executive leadership role at SolarWinds under the current CEO. While optimistic about the opportunity to turn the business around post breach, I started to realize it was all wishful thinking. 4 of the 6 other executives I interviewed with left the company within months after I started. In less than 6 months I had 3 different managers and ZERO performance reviews or feedback. The product strategies changed weekly. Plans would be set only to be scrapped and new plans introduced. It become clear there was no product plan or vision, just a lot of guessing. Any new ideas I tried to introduce were just met with resistance. And what good work was done was blatantly claimed by other executives. The culture it turns out was corrupt, with only lip service about how much leadership C.A.R.Es. I was happy when I left, and felt badly for the people who remained. The employees are very good, but they can not succeed with such poor leadership. And if customers knew how poorly the company is managed, I think they would leave even faster.

Tragic error - Avoid

Pros

Some nice coworkers. Product leadership is trying

Cons

The management team is deeply dysfunctional. After a few MBRs, it’s clear that while the C-level does a lot of talking, there’s no real action plan to unify the product portfolio, implement modern marketing tactics, or address customer churn. The Sales team’s approach hasn’t changed in a decade, the new marketing leader is more focused on impressing the CEO than driving results, and while the product team tries to innovate, they lack corporate support. Our channel strategy is inconsistent and lacks direction (strategy is good but execution is not there)

Pros

Complimentary meal during RTO days and a nice workspace.

Cons

The management teams, both onshore and offshore, suffer from poor judgment and a toxic culture of power-tripping. Some leaders will openly embarrass or shout at you in front of your peers. If they dislike you, politics will be used to push you out of the company. Furthermore, the commission structure changes constantly and gets worse over time. Ever since the acquisition, the company has become incredibly greedy, focusing on squeezing money out of loyal customers, which has resulted in massive cancellation requests. Finally, there is zero leniency or flexibility with the RTO policy. Even though the CEO promises flexibility during town halls, local senior managers and directors will deny it, even in cases of family emergencies or severe typhoons. Working here has become incredibly toxic.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We take concerns regarding leadership conduct, culture, and our operational policies very seriously. We’re glad you’ve enjoyed the workspace and complimentary meals, but we are deeply saddened by your comments regarding leadership behavior. Our first responsibility is to ensure a safe, respectful, and professional workplace where no Solarian feels intimidated or singled out. Professional conduct is expected of all Solarians, and we actively engage with our leadership teams to ensure they are consistently modeling our core values of collaboration, accountability, readiness, and empathy (CARE). Please know that leadership is not dismissing your review as an isolated complaint; we are treating it as critical input regarding employee trust and site culture in Manila. Regarding your comments on our post-acquisition direction and commissions, our recent transition to a Business Unit (BU) model was a strategic evolution to better meet the demands of the market and our customers. We acknowledge your frustration regarding the commission plans associated with this transition. We are actively reviewing how these plans are structured and rolled out to ensure they are fair, transparent, and clearly understood by the team. Furthermore, we want to be explicit regarding our hybrid work policy: our global guidelines absolutely intend for flexibility and empathy. We are committing to ensuring that exceptions are granted for family emergencies and local crises, such as severe typhoons, and we are reinforcing these expectations with local management to ensure our policy is modeled consistently and with appropriate empathy. We want to ensure all Solarians have a safe space to voice their concerns. Please reach out to your HR Business Partner directly so we can more effectively look into these matters.

Pros

Good learning overall, 2k odd employees, Indian CEO with clear vision

Cons

The benefits and perks that Indians get is not fully aligned with what other employees in different markets get. A small shift in focus would do wonders.
