I have been working at Optus full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great work-life balance for most of the year excluding end of Month, Quarter and Year pressures to close off last minute deals. Sales targets are mostly achievable given the right account list. Team culture at a micro level is excellent and very collaborative shared learning style in the NSW enterprise space

    Cons

A highly sensitive political environment where posturing drives recognition better than results. Teco industry is very challenging and competitive and the telco identity is not seen as a positive one. Strong internal competition between retention and business development groups
Processes are broken and the overall strategic direction remains a mystery to our staff and customers.

    Advice to Management

Fix the systems - 1 CRM should be sufficient.
Take the delivery responsibility away from AMs as it stops us selling and ruins relationships.
Build a more accurate sales log process as this will lead to more honest sales forecasting, more accurate results, and better performance

I worked at Optus full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Excellent community focus and benefits

    Cons

Structure is very silo oriented. Too much middle/senior management. Not much room for development in Qld

    Advice to Management

You need to listen to the people. ELT is great but middle management don't listen, especially in certain departments. It went from a great company to losing its way.
