I have been working at Optus full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

great employee benefits with flexible work arrangements. does not discriminate based on sex, age, etc. access to latest telco technologies and processes.

    Cons

can be a highly stressful job environment, but as long as you prioritize you can get over the high pressure. priorities are constantly changing so you may be working on something that will no longer be urgent in the short term

I have been working at Optus part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Really good, positive environment to work in. Great benefits at optus and other companies great discounts.

    Cons

Will only give you 10 hour part time contract so if you underperform they have the ability to drastically cut shifts.

    Advice to Management

Well done on the environment you have created

I have been working at Optus full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Great people, if you know the right people you'll get ahead quickly, work life balance can be OK - varies between teams, direct management are great - they're in the same boat as you, long tenure, discounts on telecommunications services,

    Cons

Dinosaur aged systems, who you know not what you know, can be extremely slow due to controlling leadership, lots of peacocking, collaboration by mantra only, long tenure, top level heavy, not actually a equal opportunity business

    Advice to Management

Look through the peacocking & you'll see who's actually doing great work for the business. Listen to more than just yourself or your boss - there's great talent & ideas about

I have been working at Optus part-time for more than a year

    Pros

The team that you work with are really good, you build strong relationships with each other because of the craziness you go through. The store managers are also really supportive and will help you with sales strategies and training. You get $80 credit off your bill and 25% discount off each service that you have with optus.

    Cons

Some of the customers have the worst attitudes but you have to suck it up if they're not blowing it out of proportion. You only ask for a manager to take over if you can't handle it. External senior management, so area manager and state etc. they put a lot of pressure on the store to do well but they just push pressure, there's no incentive to do well. The commission is laughable. Eventually there's just so much... pressure that you kind of hate going to work. The opportunity to move up is really restricted because of the area manager's 'criteria'.

    Advice to Management

Support your staff, provide incentives via pay, not through gifts and objects.

I worked at Optus full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Close to major transport route. Reduced mobile call costs.

    Cons

Challenged in the areas of processes, systems, culture, work environment, & service quality (internally & externally). Poor valued communications.

    Advice to Management

Management are too divorced from what is actually going on, or dont care. Make your staff proud to wear your logo again. Stop trimming staff to fatten your bonus. Actually get people involved - ditch the survey!
