    I worked at St.George Bank part-time for more than 19 years

    Pros

    The work hours are good, the staff are all lovely and always willing to share their knowledge.

    Cons

    Senior management need a course in how to treat leaving employees.

    Advice to Management

    I started working with State building society in the 70's after 10 years service I received a special night out with management Mr Cleary, Fred Harvison and others and a special gold pen. I worked another 10 years 2002 and received a special congratulations letter from Gail Kelly and a pewter dragon 20 years service a letter from Gail Kelly and flowers after 40 years I would of expected something to say thank you.       The skill itself is a huge one that helps you move around into different departments of the financial industry. Use it as a stepping stone to catapult your career. The people that you work with in your team are also awesome.

      Cons

      The amount of politics is insane. Be careful with whom you talk to as word spreads like wildfire. A lot of the management are only looking out for themselves and say they care for you but when push comes to shove, they will not look after you. The department itself is undergoing massive changes as a result of the Royal Commission so the role itself is very tough. It is a sales role so the focus on making sure you meet...

      A lot of the people there shouldn’t be there. There is a focus on working as one team but this is clearly lacking. There are staff that shouldn’t be in the role and this has resulted in a huge disparity between the two teams that are there. You need to look after your staff as you have many talented people who are bending over backwards to make you look better. Stop walking around like peacocks with your friends and focus...
