We're redefining home buying tech at scale for millions
You have full-stack leadership in cloud-native engineering
Together we build secure, seamless journeys that change lives
Do work that matters :
We're building tomorrow’s bank today, which means we need creative and diverse engineers to help us redefine what customers expect from a bank. Envisioning new technologies that are still waiting to be invented and reimagining products that support our customers and help build Australia’s future economy.
Step into a role where your engineering expertise directly shapes how Australians achieve one of life’s biggest milestones, owning a home. As a Principal Software Engineer in the Speciality Products Platforms Crew within the Digital & Technology Home Buying Division, you’ll set the technical vision behind platforms that support millions of customers navigating complex, high-stakes decisions every day.
From first home buyers to seasoned investors, your work powers seamless, secure, and intuitive digital experiences that make the journey simpler, faster, and more confident. Working across a modern stack including .NET/.NET Core, C#, AWS, and front-end frameworks like Next.js, TypeScript, and React, you’ll design and deliver scalable, end-to-end solutions that sit at the forefront of innovation in financial technology. This is more than just building software; it’s about redefining what “great” looks like in a domain that impacts everyday Australians. You’ll lead large-scale engineering initiatives, from modernising critical backend services to launching new, customer-facing experiences that genuinely improve lives.
As a trusted technical leader across a 250-person engineering organisation, you’ll influence architecture, uplift capability, and inspire teams to push boundaries, all without needing formal authority. Your guidance will shape how teams build, how platforms evolve, and how innovation is delivered at pace and scale. In this role, your impact is tangible, your voice sets direction, and your workplaces you at the heart of meaningful, industry-leading transformation.
See yourself in our team:
CBA Technology powers the bank’s digital experiences and provides the platforms, data, cyber security, and infrastructure that support every CBA division. The team also delivers modern workplace technology for more than 53,000 employees, ensuring they have the tools and resources to work smarter, collaborate effectively, and deliver exceptional outcomes for customers.
The Speciality Products Platforms Crew is where top-tier engineers solve some of the hardest problems in Home Buying at scale. This team builds the critical platforms behind valuation services, property data, lending decisioning, calculators and high-throughput APIs that power millions of customer and banker interactions. They work on distributed, cloud-native systems, event-driven architectures and resilient services where latency, reliability and precision genuinely matter. The problems are complex, the systems are business-critical, and the engineering bar is high this is a team for people who want to build robust platforms, not just features. What sets this Crew apart is the level of ownership and influence.
Engineers here shape architecture, drive technical strategy and own services end to end from design and development to observability, optimisation and production excellence. You’ll work with exceptional engineers, product thinkers and designers to modernise core platforms, unlock smarter decisioning and create technology that transforms how customers buy homes. If you’re energised by scale, complexity and meaningful technical leadership, this is the kind of team where standout engineers do the best work of their careers.
