Supportive, friendly company

Pros

Very healthy and engaged culture. A lot of transparency in terms of what's happening in the company. Incredibly smart people and you'll do work that's intentional and challenging. The £1500 learning and development budget.

Cons

It's a supportive environment, but there are high expectations. This isn't the place for you if you'd prefer to coast.

Pros

Everyone is smart and driven. Leadership are always thinking about what they want the company to be and they're really transparent with people.

Cons

Sometimes you are asked to do something and then things move around you so by the time you're finished with what you were working on it ends up not being needed.

Pros

A really authentic bunch of smart people solving tricky problems. Great culture with tons of trust and autonomy to get stuff done. Flexibility in when and how you work is unmatched. Truly an amazing place to work.

Cons

The product & industry is complicated, so your pals won't understand what your job is (at all).

Pros

The team is full of talented, friendly, and supportive people who genuinely care about doing great work. The onboarding and product training are excellent, structured, thorough, and genuinely help you feel confident in the product. Social events were well organised and good employee benefits.

Cons

The culture doesn’t always reflect the openness and transparency that’s often promoted. While feedback is encouraged in theory, it can feel risky to be fully honest without it being misinterpreted. There’s a noticeable inconsistency in leadership, some managers are supportive and genuinely care about development, while others can come across as overly critical or dismissive. I experienced behaviour from a leader that felt unprofessional and undermining, which made it difficult to feel valued or supported. Targets and expectations are ambitious, which isn’t a bad thing, but the level of support to reach them isn’t always there. It can leave people feeling under pressure rather than motivated.

Pros

Gearset is absolutely fantastic place to be - it’s an exciting time and the people and product are both superb. It’s a real privelage to be surrounded by so many super smart people and it genuinely feels like an opportunity to learn and grow every day. The entire staff are completely focused on delivering and there’s a great a sense of community running through the business. Leadership are visible and communicate well. The company is growing and so it will inevitably be hard to maintain the flat structure, but it feels like a big collaborative animal that keeps getting better. There has been some amazing talent added in the last year too - excited for the future and proud to be a part of it.

Cons

Nothing I’d consider a con really

Pros

Gearset has a very healthy culture and is a great place to work - people are treated fairly, given choice in what they work on and encouraged to provide feedback.

Cons

I literally cannot think of any downsides
