I worked at Squiz full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Friendly for applicants with no PR or citizenship - Formal agile development process from design to production. New-beginners could learn a lot - Use jQuery heavily, and is turning to React - Good tutors and training programs - Free and unlimited Cokes

    Cons

    - No complete test processes and CI automation - Squiz Matrix CMS has low market share, so things in Squiz Matrix might not be used by you in the future - Many legacy codes and tools - Lower salary than the market average - Relatively heavy workload in Australia

    Advice to Management

The most urgent thing is to increase the competence and market share of the Squiz Matrix. Or the company need to change and focus on other products. Besides, the salary level needs to be increased to attract talents.

"A company that does not deliver on its promises! Avoid if you're a high achiever"

I worked at Squiz full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Some good team members in the office who are customer and outcome focused

    Cons

Some staff are promoted purely based on relationships but have little expertise and experience. If you aren't in the inner circle, you're just a number and they won't even know your name. Evident that middle management have no say in any matters. Question. what are they there for?

    Advice to Management

Deliver on your promises! Was promised a bonus for meeting target that was approved on multiple levels but then was told the bonus would not be paid with no good reason provided. An insult for working hard and being a high achiever. Sacrificing weekends and evenings to complete customer requests was a waste of time. If you are a dedicated, customer focused and high achieving individual, I'd look elsewhere. You just aren't appreciated here.

    I worked at Squiz full-time

    Pros

    - Talented and supportive colleagues - Complimentary snacks & breakfast - CBD location - Flexible work environment - 30 days annual leave

    Cons

    - The core of the problems with the company all come down to it's key CMS product offering. It is not competitive or relevant in today's market. - Therefore sales and marketing are scrambling to try and find ways to stay relevant and sell the product. - Retention is low and new sales are poor. - No career development as the company is stagnant and HR is all but non existent - No mentorship from manager or leadership team - Office environment is depressing. - No structured commission plan or individual targets for sales people (yet you have the high pressures of selling)

    Advice to Management

You want to keep up with the industry and be a technology agency but are stuck in the past. Improve the product or scrap it and focus on services and partnering with other technology companies. There is a lack of transparency and the goal posts are forever changing - keep your employees better engaged and make them feel heard and acknowledged.
