Selection Criteria

Role

• Specific support tasks to achieve outcomes. Typically, this will involve accountability for a single function, (e.g. ensuring data is properly maintained) or the co-ordination of a work area under the direction of the principal or a manager.
• Assisting teachers, within an educational program, by undertaking specific support tasks or the coordination of the support function.
• Supervised health and wellbeing support tasks, medical intervention support tasks, or other specialised student/teacher support roles (e.g. enrolled nurses performing the role as described in schedule 3). These roles require specific qualifications and/or training, including roles where further training must be undertaken from time to time. The role is for a specific purpose, for which there will be direct accountability as opposed to support roles that are carried out by a range of staff performing routine tasks under direction.
• Technical tasks that require a sound knowledge of basic technical and/or scientific principles that are used to develop and adapt work methods and make judgements where there are clear guidelines and limited options. Routine technical support in libraries, science, and information technology would be typical examples.

Responsibilities

• Supervision of students
• Assist with the supervision of students before school, recess and lunchtime.
• Ensure students sign in when using the Library during class time.
• Manage students using library space

  Daily Library Management
• Follow instructions from Library Coordinator
• Responding to staff and student requests.
• Providing professional development to staff on a range of ICT issues.
• Supervision and behaviour management of students in the library.
• End-processing of orders
• Organisation of library spaces in preparation for events or activities.

  Information / Research assistance to students and staff.
• Communicate and liaise with students, staff, parents and other members of the school community to determine their needs.
• Assist staff and students to find and use relevant resources.
• Make staff aware of resources to support the curriculum.
• Gather resources on a specific topic as requested by staff.
• Assist staff and students in the utilisation of Library software.

  The maintenance and development of the Library¿s collection.
• Maintain up to date records of all resources and cataloguing
• Process resources - covering, etc.
• Sort and clear new materials.
• Maintenance and promotion of audio-visual collections and platforms

  Carrying out of routine tasks in the Library and the wider school community.
• Data entry for books and other resources.
• Order resources, supplies and equipment for the Library and other faculties.
• Operate circulation desk.
• Maintenance of photocopiers / liaison with ICT Technicians.
• Shelving books and other resources.
• General Library tidiness.
• Stocktaking.

  Provision of supervision and training.
• Supervision and training of designated non-teaching staff employed at the school. E.g. trainees, work-experience students.
• Supervision and training of students in Library procedures.
• Assist in the identification of own training needs.

  Monitor the Library email Inbox
• Respond to all incoming emails in a timely manner.
• Follow up on requests and provide further information to staff and students where requested.

  Create displays
• Create dynamic displays in the Library for relevant events or promotions.
